I've been to Canada many times, and I've never ever seen ketchup crisps or dill pickle ones either. Mel tells me they are good, but seeing as I don't like ketchup or pickles, I highly doubt it :P

Tonight, It must be something very quick, probably just some Farfalle with marinara sauce. I'm frantically cleaning up the apartment, and gathering all the documents that I will need for the interview next monday. I leave for Ontario Thursday morning............ So much to do and so little time.

They are everywhere that regular chips are sold! SOOO GOOD!! I have found dill pickle pringles here, and Herrs has ketchup but not as good as the Canadian chips.

I love ketchup chips and my favorite brand is Old Dutch. When we make junk food runs over the border into Quebec, I can't seem to find them. They have Old Dutch corn chips in the stores, just not potato chips. Luckily, hubby brought those back from BC. And wine gums ... I adore wine gums.

LOL my hubby is obsessed with wine gums, that's funny. On every visit to Canada before I moved, he'd buy those jumbo bags at Zellers. And when my Mom came at Xmas, he requested lots of wine gums. I like them too!

Well frying onions and peppers for the pulled pork sandwiches.

Found I had no pulled pork seasonings...oh well - plus, the buns I made kind of fell a bit, still tasty but kind of flat, not sure what happened there, they were happily rising then I look at them an oh noooes!

I LOVE winegums!

Dinner tonight is store-bought roasted chicken, Blue cheese potato salad, succotash and salad.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I had a couple of beers

I don't eat all that much at home at the best of times, and with the interview a week away (and having to be ready for it by tomorrow night because I am leaving for Chi on thursday) I am kind of a mess lately. No real interest in food.

Now when I am cooking with my baby, it's an entirely different story! It's one of our favorite activities... we can spend a whole day cooking! Going to have to watch the weight after the move! :o

After watching Alton Brown tonight- I want to brine a brisket to make corned beef.

The search is on for an ingredient called saltpetre. Some pharmacies may still carry it but it is hard to find- you can order it online but that seems like a hassle. You can make the corned beef without it but it used to keep the beef pink.

That stuff is famous for being what they used to give to sailors to decrease their desire while they were out at sea. I just read that there is supposedly no evidence to back up this use though.

The only store that I can think of that *might* have it is Whole Foods.

 Alton did mention that fact that it was given to sailors.

Apparently it can also be used as an explosive- a big reason why it is hard to find.

Once again my stomach growls when I read what people are preparing. When I went to Costco yesterday I bought that chicken which we had. I feel like something different tonight. I also picked up one of their pizzas, and some spinach cheese ravioli so I'll have to decide which one to heat up tonight.
