We had Ikea for supper :) Hubby had chicken fingers & mac & cheese, and I had the pasta with alfredo sauce (a cheap $1.99!!).. total meal cost (with 2 drinks) $11.00 PRICELESS

Ohmygosh, my daughter and I had Ikea supper just before closing one evening. They piled on the food and, not only that, gave us a discount because it was so late in the evening. I think we paid $3 for the entire meal!!! :o:lol:

Did you go to the Ikea on Long Wharf? I went there right after it opened (BIG MISTAKE) .... it was a nightmare! Crowds of people, couldn't find my way out of the mazelike store. I was so traumatized, I haven't been back (even though I used to love Ikea)

 I don't blame you.

Last night's supper was good. We did have mushrooms with the steak, and my husband also brought in some corn. It was horrible. The corn, that is. Not the steak. Tonight..... I don't know. Still haven't figured out breffrus yet.

I used Crate & Barrel as my Ikea fix until we actually got one! I (L) Crate & Barrel. :luv:

Isn't this off topic - do they serve food at crate and barrel?? :ot:

Dinner hmmmm.

Oh and speaking of off topic. Krikit, what week in February do you have free? I think you should share a recipe with us for the great Canadian forum recipe thing! And we can start it off the week you are free in February.

Sure! What theme are we using? Is there a theme?

I leave February 11th and return late late late February 17th. So late, in fact, that it will probably be the 18th before I get home. Then visitors from the 19th thru the 24th. So we either have to do it the first week of February or the last week of February. When's Carla back?

I think they are headed home around the end of next week? So around Feb 6th or so.

So then it would be the last week of February.

Theme...hmm, hmmm.

My hubby, the lovely Waterpupy, aka the Great Hot Dog Conosseur wanted me to post this question:

Why do American hot dogs taste like shite?

I myself cannot answer because I am not a hot dog conosseur. Hubster has tried nearly every brand in the supermarket, trying to find a hot dog that would meet his standards, but no luck.

I'm not sure, but I find even in canada that the hot dogs I buy in the store don't taste near as good as the ones from the hot dog carts on the street.

Oooo, our favourite restaurant just re-opened. It was closed for almost 9 months and while the signs said 'for remodelling', it just went on being closed with no work gong on inside. We figured it had bit the dust. Well today I drove by and there are cars in the parking lot, and lights on inside, so we decided on the spur of the moment that we would go over and see. YES!! Grand Re-opening signs all over the parking lot - the place was packed! We got the last table and they were lining up out the door when we left (seems like it is a lot of people's favourite restaurant). It is called the Broadway Diner and that is just what it is - a diner - with a mixture of American, Southern, Italian, Mexican and Greek menu - and a dessert bar that consists of 7 layer tall cakes! It looks nice inside - re-did all of the carpeting, upholstery, refinished the woodwork and put in brand new lighting. The food is still just as great! I had my favourite Moussaka and Joe had the stuffed cabbage rolls. Ah, it feels good to have it back.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I agree. I miss Maple Leaf wieners. I really, really miss steamed hotdogs in Montreal- I haven't had one of those in years. :(

And what is up with the florescent pink wieners here? I don't remember the brand name but they are weird looking.

You miss Maple Leaf?! A few months ago, they were tainted with salmonella, I believe. Tons of stuff got recalled..it was really kind of scary.

And florescent pink hot dogs...I must go on a journey to locate these. :D

Really? Never heard about the recall. Or was it Schneider's wieners that I liked? It seems like it has been so long since I have been in a grocery store in Canada.
