You're welcome anytime - just let me know so I prepare enough!

The hotdog buns turned out really nice, I used this recipe from allrecipes (it was originally for 12 - I changed the servings to 4)

Even taking the servings to 4 I probably could have made 8 buns - but only made 4 - which is handy because you use just 1 bun for 2 hotdogs !

INGREDIENTS

1/3 cup milk

2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons water

1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon butter

1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 (.25 ounce) package instant yeast

2 teaspoons white sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 egg (I used a whole egg haha)

Or you can pretend you're a pioneer and do it by hand!

My husband has started doing this. He also bought a terra cotta plant base plate thingy and puts his bread on that in the oven.

He watches too much Good Eats.

Nice! I love making bread the old way. Good Eats has a lot of good technical advice. The format is pretty annoying, though. I really like America's Test Kitchen. My daughter and I used to watch it on PBS out of Buffalo every Saturday morning. I went through withdrawal down here until they finally started airing it. It's called something else, though.

OMG we're making sushi tonight! I bought Mike a sushi making kit for xmas and he's finally going to try it out today. :)

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, sushiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. I love sashimi even more. I think I need a sushi fix, now.

I don't know what we're having for dinner this evening. We're on our way out in a little bit so we may just pick something up or eat out.

Awesome!

We have a friend who makes amazing sushi. About once a year he comes over and we have a sushi feast with a bunch of friends. I do the beef tataki.

We're having breakfast for dinner:-). Joe wanted a big breakfast this morning but I slept in so he made do with cereal and milk. So, tonight we had bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuits. He's a happy camper now - and I probably went over my carbs limit:-(.

I'm the sushi queeeen! I'm the sushi queeeen!

We made it, after one burnt pot of sushi rice, we were ready to create our rolls.

My husband tries to roll his first one... doesn't cut the nori in half and ends up with these GIANT MESSY rolls!

So then I decide to give it a try and only do it with half of the nori... which is what the sushi book tells us. My rolls kept coming out PERFECTLY but poor Mike kept making ones that would fall apart. It was quite funny. Only because he took a year of culinary in University before switching majors so feels he is an "expert" in the field. :P

Anyhoo, we decided that in future sushi adventures, he'd cook everything and I'd put it together.

It sure was delicious regardless of whether it was falling apart or not. :D
