Alright time to get down to business, step by step....starting with the thing that freaks me out the most...this LETTER. So what is this thing? Does it need to be written in Spanish or can I write it in English and translate to Spanish. Unfortunately, we don't know of any lawyers so I think we're going to be stuck writing it ourselves. Does it need to be notarized? If I understand correctly it needs to cover the following bases:

1. We are both legally free and able to marry.

2. We are choosing to marry, and not being forced.

3. We desire to marry on such and such date, place, time?

4. Which person at the Registro Civil will be doing the wedding

5. I would guess they need our names and ages.

Is that about it? Surely we can come up with something with all that information, or does it need to be worded a certain way?

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

You need to make sure you dont say that you desire or plan to marry on a certain date. that is why they denied our first letter. it showed doubt. so you have to say we will marry on this date

Now that my husband is a citizen, we are preparting documents to apply to bring his parents here.

Charity....I just added something quick. It is my favorite saying by one of my favorite people....Zapata.

Es mejor morir de pie, que continuar viviendo de rodillas.

It is better to die standing than continue living on your knees.

I know I'm jumping ahead of myself here, but when you make a copy of the passport, does it need to be just the first page or does it need to include any stamps?

And ok what in the world is an Apostille??

Stephanie: It's lousy weather here too. Not too cold but rainy and nasty. I am super tired too. I don't think I ever caught up on my sleep I lost from last weekend. Thank goodness we should be able to sleep tomorrow. Yes, the pressure is mounting. We want to see that first heart soon. Have a good cinco de mayo also and a great weekend.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Melissa- An apostille is a legal document from Secretary of State it is the proof that the bc or whatever other document filed under that state is authentic and it has the state seal on it. In Mexico and some other countries gov't and local agencies accept it along with the original document for their records under the Hague Convention. I think, that's correct??? but, you can get it at the secretary of state for the state you were born in, try searching for the website.

not really sure but I think it might have had to have been every page.

an apostille is just a seal on your BC saying its real, actually I think it was a letter accompanyi8ng a newly solicited bc. the letter had the seal
