Hello all,

What all to write with the petition while filing the i-130? Should my husband (petitioner) write about how we met and how long we have been together plus why he rather wants me to be in US than him shifting to India?

And should he make 2 sheets, one for all the documents he is submitting along with the forms and another sheet for this petition?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Fwaguy,

Thanks for the quick reply :)

We do have all the necessary evidence, from phone records to bank statements, western union, medical insurance papers and things like that.

So I will just uncheck the "love story" part then :P

I did make a cover letter and had a list of sections and what each section contained. I inserted blank sheets between the sections and attached tabs on the bottoms of these sheets and had everything fastened together at the top with acco faster for 2 hole punch. If you sent any evidence such as phone bills, airline ticket stubs, etc. just send copies and save the originals for later in the process. I agree that the story is not needed. During the interview you may be asked how you met.

One quick thing, the phone records are from my side though, my husband usually calls me through his prepaid mobile and all the phone cards he bought for calling me, he never saved those, but I do have the records of me calling him also his dad and brother, will it work the same way or is it more essential that the given records should be from the petitioner only? I realise its a silly question but still want to make sure we put things together perfectly.

This visa journey sure has made me a perfectionist :P no more half hearted jobs.

Contact is contact regardless of initiation... No where does it say the evidence is to be one-sided...

YMMV

I am a little concerned, with the I-130 unlike the I-129F you don't have the chance to tell your story, also from newlyweds there isn't much evidence we can give - we have a couple of 'red flags' and I know some K-1 filers have been successful because they were able to address them early on in the process, on the I-129F question 18 'how we met', but there is no way for us to address it. So I guess the interview is bound to be more difficult- another reason why if at all possible I want to be there.

ETA:This is based on us only filing the I-130, we are probably only going for CR-1.

The USCIS is not concerned about your "story"... that comes later at the interview

YMMV
