Co-sponsor income requirements...???

Hey guys,

Quick question. I'm relying on a co-sponsor for the I134...I am aware the co-sponsor has to make at least 125% of the poverty guidelines (around 17 or 18k), but does the co-sponsor have to make double that income since he is signing saying he will support my fiance if need be? Or just a little over the required amount...

You might want to read the povertyline guide: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf

Income it total gross income when counting self, dependents and prospective immigrant, this does not double or triple when counting dependents and immigrants.

Just to make sure you're clear on it, it's 125% of the poverty guideline for their household, which needs to include your fiance. So for example, if the joint sponsor is single, then their household size is two. If they are married and have two children, their household size is 5. The joint sponsor should have the full amount of required income without including any of your income or assets. Good luck!
