Evidence of Support

Hi all,

First nice to meet you all. :star: great site

We filed at CSC and they received F129 on 15.10.07.

I know I am still a few months away from the interview at the Embassy in London but I am trying to collect all papers necessary and I am bothered by the "evidence of support" part. I am french citizen, living in London (been there for 14 years). My fiance has a steady job with the County in Las Vegas NV (worked with them for 15 years) and he is earning over the level of poverty. Neither of us have assets or savings, but we know we will be ok. Do you think that a letter from his employer will be sufficient to prove he can support me and my daughter? That and my intention to get a job as soon as it is possible.

Thank you for any advise

Laurence

Check out the guides here for the Affadavit of Support. Part of filling that out with supporting documentation is that he would include a letter from his employer, tax returns etc. If he makes more than the poverty level, then you won't have any problems. You won't need assets or cash in the bank. Remember, might not be able to work for several months upon arrival, but by the sounds of it, you won't need to right away, given he's working.

Sounds like you won't have to worry. Again, check out the guides, and find out what he'll need to send in with the Affadavit of Support. He'll have to send you this stuff for the interview as well.

Best of luck,

Carla (F)

for evidence of support, you need a lot more than just a letter from the employer. You need the last 3 years tax information, letter from the bank stating when the account was opened, the amount of money in it, and a years worth of transactions on it. and some other things that arent coming to mind lol.

You only need the bank info if you need to use your assets. If you are relying on income, then you need to make sure that his income is 125% of the poverty limit for 3 people, unless he has other dependents, then they would be included too.

My fiance just had his interview in London yesterday and in addition to the notarized I-134 I gave him tax transcripts from the last 2 years (although I know many others who've only given one year), a letter from my employer and my last few pay stubs for good measure. If he can supply that you won't need to worry about other assets or lack thereof.

Each embassy is a bit different on what they might ask for to support the I-134.

Sounds like you should be OK! I'd wait until you have the NOA2 before you get the letter and affidavit dated & notarized, but the tax transcripts can be ordered by calling the IRS. They are free and take about a week or two to arrive in the mail.

The interview was very easy. They asked my fiance 3 questions: Where did you meet? When was that? Why will you live in the US rather than the UK? C'est tout!

Good luck!!!
