Since there hasn't been an update since Friday on the Chicago Lockbox processing dates, we made a call to USCIS today. So, here's the highlights of the latest story....not all of the yet to be recipted I-130's went to Chicago...apparently the backlog at the Service Centers was such a mess, that they were unable to locate/send all the I-130's received over to the Lockbox....they think about half went from Nebraska....and she confirmed that as they have long since lost track of date order, some applicants that filed months after we did could receive their NOA1 long before we do. Very disappointing. Also, in our 2 previous conversations with USCIS, staff have been courteous...not so, today..very unpleasant person on the line.

oh my, just when we had our hopes up that we were close being on the system.....

Sorry to hear that but at least its news of some sort. Though how they could loose track of the order is interesting. They should all have a postal stamp from the post office stating the date. And you would think they would be in bins with the date on the bin. But this is the USCIS so I guess I am not that surprised at the incompetence. :(

I hope you will get your NOA1 soon, and they should seriously send an apology letter with it. :/

Hmmm....well this explains why some still in august and september have yet to get a NOA1,so much for the "order in which they are recieved"

I noticed that there aren't many of you who sent your I-130 in December so applications should be processed more quickly. My husband sent ours in January and I want to be informed well about everything so i keep on checking if there are some new updates.Hope u get your Noa1 sooner than u think!

When did he file the I-130? I filed ours on 1/10 so hopefully by mid-late February we will get our NOA1.

I started a January filers thread - doesn't seem to be too many of us.

So...... Anybody have any suggestions on how to find out if you were not one of the I-130's sent to Chicago or not?. Thye are past my date now of 11/16/07 so will wait another week before i expect to see any notice. again any suggestions on how to find out where the heck the application is?

Bill

Try a physic? Really though, I don't know that USCIS even knows half the time. Which is a rather scary thought. :( Maybe they should start tagging them with RFID chips when they first get them. *I am actually serious about that. :/

Ok...here's an interesting update...just looking at the back of our cashed check..it was cashed in California. Our I-130 was never forwarded to Chicago. I guess that was acurate information that not all I-130's ended up at the Lockbox.

yep, I saw that date too. I wonder what happens now. Mine was received in the mailroom Dec.11,2007.

Tried to call and finagle the receipt out of the customer service rep,....no takers. lol.

Well, atleast I can send a text message to my hubby and tell him that we "should" be in their system by now.

Anyone else have a past date from their website? Have u, somehow, been able to get a receipt number from just calling in?

Thanks

Leedah

Mine is like 3 days after yours, did they cash ur check yet? I hope they send out receipts soooooooooooon!

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

ok some info and a suspicion. last week 1/25/08 i called customer service trying to get a receipt number or see if i was in the system. i told the rep i filed mid November he promptly replied OH WE ARE ONLY ON OCTOBER. flash forward to today. 1/29/08 i call again HOWEVER this time i lie and say that i filed in October, without missing a beat the rep says OH WE ARE ONLY ON SEPTEMBER APPLICATIONS/ so here is my thought . possibly they are trained to automatically respond like this. if someone has not received an NOA1 i encourage them to call tomorrow and lie and say you filed in September if theory is correct they will respond. OH WE ARE STILL ON AUGUST or such and such service center is only on August.

i did however get the info that i will be sent to California service center, was'nt sure where i would go after the Chicago box.
