I-94 sheet tore out right after getting it at LAX customs??!

Long story short. My wife activated her K3 VISA on 12/25/2007 while we were at a flight stopover in LAX airport on our way to Australia for a vacation. She was in the immigration office at LAX airport for MORE THAN 2 HOURS!! The immigration officier was being more than just rude, gave her the hardest time about seeing a picture of me (the husband), which she didn't have at the moment. I got responses on this board more than 3 weeks back that she does not need any further documents to prove our marriage in order to activate the K3 VISA. I was more than upset when this happened because we almost missed our flight. Add madness to the confusion, right before we boarded our flight to Australia, a lady by the entrance of the gate insisted that she needed the I-94 form that my wife just received and just straight tore it out of her Canadian passport. Was this suppose to happen??!? Why was my wife given a hard time at the immigration office? Does she need to get an I-94 form everytime she crosses into US while she is still in the move process? I am not liking this very much.

Yes, the I-94 is an arrival/departure record, and needs to be turned in when "departing" the country, you will receive a new one when re-entering the USA.

This all ends when you get the green-card. Green-card holders are treated like US Citizens, and do not need to fill out and carry the I-94 card.

Does my wife have to pay $6 each time to get a new I-94 form? thanks.

I-94 card for us cost nothing, it is handed out on the airplane filled out before seeing the immigrations officer at the POE, we were charged nothing for this going through Chicago last year. Edited by YuAndDan

Since you'll be flying in from your Australian vacation, your wife will get an I-94 form to fill up without having to pay $6 for it.

I'm referring to the I-94 form that's acquired from the customs office after activating the K3 visa. It is stapled inside the passport.

This form:

Is handed out on all international flights just before landing in the USA, it is filled out while in flight to save you the hassle of doing it in line while waiting for the Immigrations officer.

From further reading, the $6 fee is only charged at land crossings into the USA, not on international flights.
