Hmm I opened this up thinking it would be juicy then I think ONLY 13 years ... that isn't even worth posting .

I am a Californian and we don't even raise an eyebrow until the spouse is significantly younger than the kids

Well, when u live in a culture where people turn their noses up and a 7yr difference it's different. And therefore you seek out people/persons that share you issue, so it is worth posting. My culture !# YEARS is a big deal to most. If ur dating someone younger than ur kid then there's a problem significantly or not...

Well, in my case, that would just be plain SICK............

I cannot even grabs the concept  Mabe because mine are so young, maybe if I was way older? don't think so.

good morning...got engaged a few months after knowing my fiance and filed for K-1 this month; I know we've not know each other for a long time at all, but we do communicate a lot (my cell) and I've been back to see him in Jamaica since meeting him the first time. We met 9/07, got engaged 11/07 we also have a 13 year age difference...I (female) 37 he 24. Just trying to calm my nerves.

Don't worry about it.I am 6 years older than my fiance and I used to babysit him back in the day.

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm

Hello,

I am 12 years older than my hubby. He's alot more mature at 26 then most American men I know at 40...lol. I wouldn't sweat it. Love knows no age difference. There will be times that you realize the age difference but for the majority of the time you will never think about it. Congrats on the engagement! Good Luck in the process! ~Rhonda~

You will find a lot of folks here on VJ with large age differences. In our case it is 24 years. I think when you are dating across cultures the age makes less difference because you don't expect to have parallel cultural experiences anyway.

For instance, my future bride is far more mature than a comparable American woman of 21 simply because life and expectations for women in the Philippines are so much harder than here in the U.S.
