my case at the NVC while son's I-130 still at USCIS

hello everyone!

my papers have been at the NVC since november, but my son's I-130 hasn't been approved yet. we submitted my son's I-130 only after my I-130 approval. why? unforseen circumstances. water under the bridge.

so anyway, we thought of dragging our feet at the NVC, but eventually decided to proceed. my husband is now in the process of preparing the I-184. also, we just learned that the IV fee was generated last week.

i understand that the NVC will pair up my son's case and mine once they track these separate petitions, but at the rate things are going, i doubt my son's will be able to catch up with my case at the NVC. worst case is, i will have to leave my son.

so far, what i have read here in VJ is that, if a parent leaves their child, they have to fly back to their country and wait with the child. the others do not even recommend leaving the child behind. is this really how it's done? i mean, can't a reliable person, say my dad/mom, accomplish the forms and accompany my son during his medical exam and embassy interview? can't i leave and just wait for my son's arrival in the USA? i'm not being selfish, just thinking that it might be a better option to settle in ahead and get everything ready for my son's arrival.

i would like to know if this ever happened to anyone and what were the steps taken? please indulge me on this. help is much appreciated.

thank you!
