Yes, I think the first thing to conquer is to not eat when you are not hungry. Identify why you are eating when you are not hungry, i.e. stress, boredom, etc... and then try to find other ways to cope with those situations. And, be conscious in those situations that you are resisting the urge to eat because you know it is not time to eat. If that makes any sense. LOL. Also, another thing is not to look at the total amount you need to lose, because then it can be discouraging and seem like an impossible task. Start out looking at five pound increments. Just try to lose 5 to 10 pounds first and worry about the rest when you get to that next level. Remember that as long as you are making progress, even if it is only 1 pound a week or every other week, that eventually you will make it to the finish line! My problem now is that in the past few months I have gained a few pounds after being succesful in keeping them off for a few years. I think it's tied to pre-menopause hormone fluctuations because my lifestyle and eating habits have not changed. It's time for me to find a new way to eat! I don't know what that is yet, but I'll let you know when I find out. Generally I have to eat low carb to keep the pounds off. I might have to resort to *gasp* hard exercise. :-O

That's great! Keep it up. Every little bit helps. :-)

I know you've been waiting a long time, and I hate to see anyone wait a long time, we waited 6 months, and then heartbreak, we had to withdraw. I dont know how to explain it, I dont like to see anyone wait, and wait, and someone who files months later files and get approved before the person who has waited forever, Im just glad now I know what close to a approval feels like after our heartbreak last year. THANK YOU for your sweet note, it means the world to me. (F)

New series premiers tomorrow on Lifetime called, "Cooking Yourself Thin" and the premise is not entirely giving up our favorites, just learning to cook them differently for 50% less calories! Everyone knows TOTAL deprivation does not work, at least not for any length of time

Hello ladies :star:

Since hubby and I have been living at his parents house, and his mom does all the cooking, I have gained some weight. I was a bit underweight to begin with if you ask most people here, and so I'm not exactly "fat" now or something, but I'm definitely gaining weight.

I sit at home all day without doing all the things I did back in my old life in the States.

No getting up early for work, running errands, cleaning house, etc.

And going outside here to work out in the sun wearing hijab and full clothing is just not an option. Joining a gym isn't really an option either.

So, I am looking for recommendations for any kind of work out videos that anyone can recommend. Nothing that involves equipment I can't easily get here in Egypt, just some basic stuff to help me keep off some of the weight I'm gaining from my MIL's cooking which is mostly fried and full of oil/butter.

Thanks

:)

Living with hubby in Egypt, at last.

I feel like giving you my work out DVD's before I leave. The windsor pilates series and stretch for fitness. Those I never use and felt I should have left at home as well. Also if you have internet you can go on YouTube and look up home work out routines. They even have famous Yogi's on there giving yoga exercises that are hilarious and fun like the laughing and breathing exercises.

Got our Y membership about a month ago now, Hubby going daily, me 2x.

I have to get over this funk I am in.

despite all that's out there: pills, plans and gimmicks nothing beats good ol eating less/eating right and get moving!

now if only I could talk myself into that.

I have been talking since the New Year and now 1/2 the year is over.

A friend of mine just starting on a cleanse....she only had a liquid diet of some sort for like 2 weeks and now she wants to do the raw foods thing. Sure, you'll lose quick like that..I'm curious to see if her jump start will become a regiment that she can REALLY stick to.

Until you figure out what you're going to do regarding exercise, I suggest you just eat less. A lot of people do not realize how effective reducing caloric intake is. Good luck!
