The 2008 United Kingdom Interview Thread!

I have a question.

My UK fiance says his interview is going to be in MANCHESTER, not LONDON!!!!!

Is this for real? Can he really get his interview and all in Manchester? He says he called the American consulate in Manchester and asked, they called him back and they said OK. It's just a short bus trip for him rather than the ordeal of going down to London.

Is it really all right to do it this way? I don't want any mistakes -- we just got out NOA2 and are waiting to hear from London.

 I'd be a bit skeptical about that - like Gillian says, even people from Northern Ireland have to go to London and I know weedebz checked and found she couldn't go to Edinburgh - she had to travel down to London from Glasgow... will be interesting to hear...

Oh you were the time slot after me!! I was so surprised to see so many relaxed people as well!!! I was cacking myself!!!!

I had my medical the day before so I didn't have that to worry about - that was worse than the interview though I was less nervous about it!! Did you have the scary Asian lady doctor?!

Yes. I had her. She was actually dead good with me since I HATE needles. Im such a baby and you wouldn't believe Im 26 so she calmed me down loads. But she was very abrupt and kind of barked orders at me a lot - lol. I just did what she said and didnt argue (too scared to). She also had a huge rant to me about 'the youth of today' when I told her I was a secondary school teacher. The guy who did the xrays was hilarious though. He had me cracking up throughout the entire process.

Lol - sounds like we had the same people!! :D

newenglander, you seem to be having a bit of trouble posting - if you find you're getting lots of double posts, as seems to be happening in this thread, you might want to try clicking on 'Add Reply' (middle button at the VERY END of the conversation, not in anyone's post) which will avoid that happening ;)

I'd be very interested in hearing the outcome of the Manchester question as well! specially as, as someone said earlier, there isn't even a US embassy there... I wonder who your fiancé spoke to when he rang?

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Thanks guys, you know I really still don't believe it's over (it isn't really - still have the medical) but I don't know. I've been doing all different kinds of immigration paperwork for over a year. 3 separate applications. Plus research and organising for getting married (it was a very administrative affair). When the CO insisted that my oH do his tax return I returned to work and started figuring that stuff out. And then I realised, that paperwork is just something everyone does, every year. And the forms don't really change, so once you've got the hang of it, it's more or less like telling a nOOb not to sign the DS-230 part 2 ( ;) ) easy!! And of course there's removal of conditions. But I've still got all my copies of stuff from all 3 applications, and stuff I might need and stuff I'll never need, but I'm keeping anyway. And it occured to me today that once I have the visa in hand I can shred 80% of it. No longer necessary.

I don't know what to make of it. It's over???? :o

Poiteen -- I'm mega-, mega-late to this party but a big ol' CONGRATS to you (and Charlie of course!). It was so cool to meet you last week! :D

Finally got our interview date

May 15th 9am!!!

Although there was lots of talk about 'information enclosed regarding your medical' of which there was none, I'll assume I can just call and book an appointment with my LDN code :)

Not sure if i was more nervous before I got the date or now!

Question: With the courier service, do they text you the date they will deliver the visa or do they text you on the day?

They texted me the day before to let me know that it was coming the following day.

yeah, they did that for me too, and then on the morning, and then didn't deliver it

after stern words they delivered the following day, however, although they had originally said I'd have to wait til after the weekend, for THEIR error
