So when we file the I-129f and send all that stuff to them... what happens to it?!?!?! Is this why they say make a copy of the packt you send?!

All the stuff you sent in with the I-129f and for the interview goes into the Mysterious Brown Envelope, which you hand in to Immigrations when you enter the US on your K1 visa.

Oh I wondered what was in there. Did Griff steam yours open?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I warned him at least 8 million times not to open it!

On a positive note, he's handing it at JFK this Thursday! Completely intact!

welcome back Julez. I hope to be in Griffs position in a matter of weeks. Hopefully the months of waiting on different continents will be a thing of the past. It all rests on interview which it creeping closer and closer.

Aww thanks. Seriously it is great knowing that a fellow July filer is actually starting the life we have all been waiting for.

The positivity is starting to return for me. Maybe because it's Monday tomorrow and we could well be hearing the news we've been waiting for. Strangely, the August approvals have been making me feel better. I think beforehand it was so chancy and never a certainty but now it's a distinct possibility

Yeah and as crummy as it sounds - at least you aren't the only July filer left - there are a fair few so it isn't like they lost your file or anything - it is just stuck in the box with everyone else's and maybe the person working on it went on vacation for a couple weeks

You wouldnt catch me living in Omaha, debz , bad enough driving through it for my AOS interview, that was a nightmare, worse than Glasgow ever was

we are seriously considering omaha.

I used to work for First National Bank of Omaha. They treat their employees very well, and they are one of the largest employers in the state. Also Gallup has their huge new campus out by the Qwest Center, and the friends that I have that work for them love it.

Housing out on the west side of town is pretty reasonable too. Though you would certainly have to get a car to get around. At least in downtown you could probably make do without one for a while.

But honestly that is why I got the hella out of NE. The job market there just isn't in great shape right now.

Worse than M8 at rush hour between Govan and Kingston Bridge? Worse than the Glasgow 1 way grid system that changes over night? surely not possible!!!!!

Only reason we are considering omaha is for job options I'd rather not as I'm not a city girl at all. Born and brought up in arsendofnowhere and love it.

Hahaha...funny you should say that! When I was back home last weekend (in the miserable cold nonetheless) I was tooling around Omaha like it was nothing and my poor fiance had his "driving on American roads" self esteem quashed. He said he thinks our system is too confusing, though to be fair I find the British roads to be an absolute mystery. The poor thing won't be starting out driving in Nebraska either...will be learning in downtown Chicago!

At least Omaha isn't far from the arsendofnowhere lol. You're not far at all from Blair where DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge is...one of my favorite places to go in NE. And of course only a few hours drive will take you to the Sandhills.

Am I the only September filer to have the visa in hand? Ours was like divine intervention, or as close as you can get with the US government; from I-129F to visa in four months.
