Has anyone stayed at the Pan Pacific or any other of the 5-star hotels and have a good recommendation?

I'm trying to make my pick between Pan Pacific, Diamond, and others at the moment near the embassy.

I don't really have any experience at any of them though.

If anyone knows which is the best for your $$, please let me know.

I'm still waiting for a confirmation from Pan Pacific currently.

Thanks in advance!

I dont know about either place. When I went there, I rented a condo for 2 weeks because it was a lot cheaper than a hotel plus it had a kitchen. It looks like you will be there for 18 days and a nice hotel will be quite expensive. Good luck at the interview, please let everyone know if you were allowed to sit in during the interview process. As that will probably be my deciding factor if I go there for Rose's interview.

First, yes, it is already confirmed by many others that you can sit in with your fiancee during the interview--in fact it's encouraged.

As for 18 days, Lord no! We're not staying in the nice hotel for 18 days. We are only staying there until the day after the interview. When I arrive, I want a nice, safe, and comfortable place to overcome my jet lag, and have the most relaxed atmosphere possible the few days before our interview. After that interview, we have a rental home a small distance off that only costs us $6 USD a day, and has stove, AC, etc. Nothing fancy, but easy enough to survive in for the remainder of the trip.

We spend most of our time traveling anyhow once there--we'll rarely be in the same town more than 2 days.

:)

if you are looking for affordable place to stay, near to the embassy then Bayview is just right.

If you happen to get a room to the side where the embassy is, you can even see at the window whats going on below. No need cab fare. just walk across, and you're in the embassy.

hope it helps.

I'm not looking for affordable; I'm looking for quality and luxury for those few days.

I'm not at all interested in Bayview. I'm looking at the hotels in the $100-$160 per night range--of course I still want to get the better value for my dollar. Everyone says the Diamond and Pan Pacific are great--according to their reviews on AsiaRooms.

pan pacific is nice and cozy place to stay...we've stayed there lots of times and my husband proposed to me on top of that hotel (that hotel is so memorable to us), the staff helped him with everything..it's less than $200/night...that's our favorite hotel next from shangrila makati..you can walk from there or take a cab and just pay 50 pesos going to embassy, their pool is nice...so u can relax and plus it's near robinson mall

We ended up staying at the Pan Pacific! It was fantastic.

We really enjoyed the view of the Manila Bay we had, and the city of Manila. There was a great weight room for my exercises, and a nice pool. The place looked luxurious inside. The service was extraordinary--they are offended if you even come close to touching your luggage!

Just a few "tips" for those staying there--do not TIP anyone. They include a 15% service charge for EVERYTHING! That includes the $40 all-you-can-eat breakfast they serve each morning. The employees there are all highly educated and make very high top-wages for Filipinos compared to employees in other surrounding businesses--so don't think they are in "need" of any extra compensations.

Other than the few "hidden" fees here and there, the stay was great and very secure. It was the most relaxing time I've had in the Philippines, and we were very much rested and prepared for our interview. I think we were the only "couple" on January 3rd's interview that were carefree, excited, and tension-free. We still had the tummy-flies, but we settled those with laughter, conversation, and confidence that the Lord held everything securely in His hands.

Once we were approved, we came out of the Officer's room dancing across the floor as if our favorite football team just won the Super Bowl. It was a great time.

I'm quite sure staying at the comfortable Pan Pacific was a great way to have the needed relaxation before the interview. Almost everyone else there was very quiet, frustrated, exhausted in appearance, and extremely stressed--with the exception of one lady who was very outgoing.

By the way, the Pan will stop a metered taxi for you if you wish not to use their own service, and their security scans the taxi for bombs, dangerous objects, and screens the plate and cab number. They'll make sure you get a quality ride--and it's only a few minutes away from the embassy.

We may try the Diamond next time for comparitive reasons, but we'd certainly stay in the Pan Pacific again in the future.

That's my 63 cents.
