Petitioner required to have landline phone?

Arlyn is at her medical right now.

She just got online a brief moment, but I wasn't available.

She sent a quick text saying she needed to talk to me now, that the CFO is wanting to know what my landline number is.

I dont have a landline number. We have no need for one because we all use cellphones for both business and personal.

The only landline I have access to is my work phone at the facility, and the work fax.

Will this be a problem?

I did not manage to get online in time to contact her and let her know I do not have a landline.

I tried calling her phone, but I'm assuming she left it at home or it is off.

I'm quite worried about this.

Anyone have experience dealing with this situation?

Well, good news is they let her buy 1 minute to call me and quicly obtain my work landline number and fax.

I am hoping the work landline will be enough.

It was late and I was tired!

Anyways, everything was fine.

By the way, they ask for the petitioner's divorce papers when at the seminar.

They say millions of Americans no longer have land-line phones. I have not had one in about 4 years. I can't imagine why it would matter.

They told her that it was required in case my cellphone was lost, stolen, or turned off. They needed a secured permananet phone to contact the petitioner in the event that something happened to Arlyn in the Philippines. The office number was just fine--as long as they had a working land-line to be able to make contact with me.

Just old fashion thinking I guess. I just read a story yesterday that said cell phone spending will exceed land-line spending in the U.S. for the first time this year.

Cell phones are a much more reliable way to contact a person.

Soon as cellphones can send faxes, there will no longer be a need for landlines.

Mine is like a miniature laptop with high-speed internet in metro city areas already--and regular speed internet anywhere else. Heck, when Arlyn and I were castaway 6 days on a deserted island in the 100 Islands of the Philippines, we were able to browse the web with a crystal clear signal; with gps, microsoft office mobile, navigation for my car, touch-screen, bluetooth and keyboard, etc. The only thing I lack is faxing. Chances are, there's probably a work-around for that too that I just don't know about yet.

Once the faxing thing is resolved, there will not be any more need for landline's except in a world crisis where all cellphone towers are halted somehow--like a world war or alien invasion

Landlines are dying. I have not had one in over 2 years. Might as well say you are required to have a telegraph machine. I do not see how any one can require you to have one. I even know some small businesses that run on all wireless.

Phone get stolen? What kind of reason is that.. YES here in the US your phone can get lost or stolen.. But not your #...

If your phone is lost or stolen they can easily transport your # to another SIM and a new phone..

Also every Cell phone here in the US have Voicemails.. For all I know even prepaid have voicemails..

That's one good thing about having cell phone in the US.. They can steal everything from you but they can't steal your phone #..

So I don't see why they would reason that..

well i think it was just the cfo people messing with her i have heard alot or stories coming out of phils about them messing with women of divorced men from usa were all just terrible people because we got divorced they probale ask for your spouse for your land line number and she didnt know it so they gave her hard time ??

I'm planning on just having the entire file of paperwork we take to the embassy interview on hand at the CFO.
