I'm trying to get all the stuff together for the I134 affidavit for support for a K1 visa. I have everything, but my bank wouldnt give me a signed letter stating when my account was opened, balance, and deposits. They just gave me a print out of my account info and list of deposits for the last 6 months. The manager said she couldn't sign it, but she stapled a business card to the print out. Is this going to be a problem? Also, I've tried to find something saying how much money I have to make and how much i need in savings. I'm sure this is in some obvious place and thats why I can't find it. If anyone could give me that info or a link, i'd appreciate it.

thanks

nate

Nate,

I think this will be a problem. The I-134 is very specific. You just need to jump through the hoops, but I would definitely have an "official copy" of exactly what the government asks for. Otherwise you risk a 221g.

Visit a vice president of the bank...any vice president and explain that you need this financial information for some government paperwork and give the name of the bank officer who would not give you the information. Then ask them to give you the letter you need.

Thanks, I finally got a human at the embassy. It turns out for the I129F all I need from the bank is a bank statement. They also said I should send a copy of last years tax return. The poverty guidelines don't apply to 129F cases, which i'm not worried about.
