Held up in Fraud Prevention at NVC???

I just called NVC to see if our K-3 petition was sent to Jordan Embassy yet. The rep told me that it is now held up in fraud prevention to be reviewed. I asked her what that was and why. She said they were doing this due to 9-11.......... I asked if this is normal. She said they do it to some cases and yes it had to do with beneficiary is middle eastern. I asked how long will this take, she said she didn't know but I could check back maybe once a week. She then said it was being done there and maybe it will be done at his Embassy too when it gets there but she didnt know.

So now my question is: Anyone familiar with this and maybe can help me understand it a little more. I'm really hoping it will not cause more delay and actually work in our favor somehow. Please shed some light on this for me.

Thanks-- gwen

I cannot really help you, but I am sorry you are being delayed. Basically, it appears the USCIS is investigating your spouse closely.

This is making me crazy not really understanding whats going on. Ive been searching online and topics that said something about this but all Im coming up with is info on cases that have already been sent to embassy, had interview and had visa denited and returned back to USCIS with 221g notice etc etc. Maybe there is a mistake here (i hope). It was on 12/13 that I was told our approved K-3 petition was at NVC and arrived on 12/12. Tonite I call and a woman who looked into another screen and says its at fraud prevention right now...

Aaagh..im tired now.. i need to go to sleep.. got to go back to work in the morning. If anyone has any info pleeez add reply or PM me.

Thanks.. I will check it in the morn.

goodnite all...

The process just sounds standard to a background check around his intention. They are pure and good so your case will be forwarded soon. I am relieved to see that I am not the only person that wakes up at 3 in the morning worried about my case. I am at a lawyer's mercy how had an assistant messed up our case.

When your tired you worry more, so get some rest.

Take Care,

Gwen,

You will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out the why's and how's. This is probably just standard checks, as sometimes a case gets pulled from the pile randomly and looked at a bit further. Just remember NVC has no power to deny cases in the event that has crossed your mind. Stay Positive!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I called again (yeah, I couldnt wait..) and was told that since 9-11 all applicants go thru AR while there prior to going to embassy. I told him I knew of other apps that were of same time frame and have already been sent to embassy after 2days. He said that normally it would be there average 7-10 days. However its a case by case situation and AR is just part of the process.

Okay.. Lord help me to stay focused in the midst of it all.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you! I think someone else from mena is going through something similar. Her SO is from Egypt. I have never heard of this before with K3's. Mine went right to Cairo so this must be a new thing not just after 9/11. Hopefully this won't take more than a few days, hon!

Hi Gwen,

My application is in Jordan and I have a close time frame to yours. My case is also held up for the same reason. NVC rec'd my case on 12-3 I and my wife are waiting. hopefully this is just a standard procedure.
