I finally made it to the states

Well I have finally made it to the states.

I left England on the 9th December and my dad drove me to Holyhead North Wales. Its only 90 minutes from where I used to live. The weather was calm all the way until we hit Anglesey then the rain and wind started. I got the 2:15pm ferry to Dublin Port and had a guinness and something to eat and a snooze. I then got bus to Dublin Bus Station and another bus to the Airport. From the Airport I got the free shuttle bus to the Holiday Inn Express at Dublin Airport. I had a few drinks in the bar then tried to sleep. My alarm call woke me up at 5:30am and I sorted my cases out checked out and then went for some breakfast. I then got on the bus to the airport found a trolley for all my cases and went to find check in.

I found the check in and had to go through this daft pre boarding security thing that happens on all flights to the USA.

ICTS. International Consultants on Targeted Security. I had a really nice woman not. She didn't seem to like me cause I was traveling on a one way ticket with a visa. She took my passport away to speak to one of her collegues she was asking me for extra ID as if my visa and the passport is not enough and she also asked me for my hotel receipts and ferry receipts which I also never had. I have never been asked for them so why do I need to carry them. To top it up my flight was delayed by 90 mins. We never went through immigration in Dublin but had to go through State Side. And my bag w as over weight so that was $50.

The flight was fine. Food was eddible sadly no IFT entertainment but for a $400 one way flight you can't complain my MP3 player kept me company.

We landed in Chicago about 90 mins late. There was snow. I got off the plane and went through immigration. He was training an immigration officer and explaining to him the K1 visa process.

Inside this pack his everything about him and his fiancees relationship and about his and her finacial stuff. He then said also there is a medical report you have to check that as if something is ticked on it then you have to call public health. He then was saying you can ask them various questions like how did you meet? When are you getting married. He then said you have to look at where he is moving too and pick which office to send his pack too. I wasn't taken to another room the whole process took 10 mins. Everything was stamped and on the back of my I-94 was to marry my fiancees names only.

I got no welcome to the USA but he did wish me good luck.

I got to the luggage belt to find my bags already on a trolley. I went through customs no problems there. Then it all started when I got to but my trolley back on the belt to my next flight to find out that my flight had been canceled and I was being put on the next one. The lovely people at Dublin had put SSSS on my boarding card and had to go through for more screening which was a pain.

The next flight was delayed by 2 hours 10 mins as O'hare had no gates free and we was waiting an a flight attendent. I made it home to KY at just after midnight and an hour before the ice storm.

We got married on Wednesday here.

Thanks all

Its been a busy week. Getting to USA then getting married my 30th Birthday over the weekend and I just made it. To be married before I was 30.

My wife wouldn't let me wear my John Deere cap for the wedding part although I did get some photos of me in my tux with the cap.

I could not not find any cufflinks anywhere here so I had to use redneck cufflinks a pair of safety pins.

My wife got me the best birthday cake ever a John Deere one. That made my day. Now its getting ready for christmas.

AOS im gonna leave to after new year.

It seems like 5 mins ago I was in the embassy in London. So people who are waiting it will happen before you know it.

We need pictures!!!

Congrats on your birthday and wedding. You sound like my UKC husband -- if he could have gotten away with wearing jeans and a John Deere cap at the wedding he would have been like a pig in the proverbial.
