My husband has lost his passport and has to file a police report and get a new one, but how will that look at interview? all the paperwork has his lost passport number on it. What if they delay us at interview for this? Does anyone have experience with this?

I would think that if he took a copy of the police report with him to the interview he should be fine.

Does he have a copy of his old passport? If he took that with the police report he should be fine.

I'm not sure, maybe someone who has more experience can help.

I would say the same thing you did above.

Did he apply for a new one? Since they put the visa in the passport, that may cause a delay till he does.

Maybe they'll re-issue his passport, and give him the same passport number. I'm thinking if I lost my passport here, and got a new one, I would just get a new passport with same number. But just throwing out ideas...don't know if that's really the case. Good luck with that.

He has one more place to check but they were closed so he will check there tomorrow, if not there he will file a police report and get a new one. he didnt have any visa stamp in the old one becaue we havent gone to interview yet. I just dont want any reason for the embassy to delay the interview. Getting nervous. I love my countdown time that zee had inspired me to make because I see we are under 100 day till interview but actually its even less days till I see him :)

I think that a new passport means a new passport number since the old number would be reported as lost/stolen.

I KNOW!!! I am sooooooo nervous. Slowly but surely, by the grace of God, we are getting closer to the interview and as the days get closer the more nervous I get :help::wacko:

My husband had the same experience. He filed a police report and was eventually issued a new passport. As far as the embassy goes - the visa is placed inside the passport. So if he can't find it, and your interview is pretty soon he needs to file the police report asap. Because without the Passport, there is no place for the visa to be placed.

What about his Police clearance reports, they have the other passport number? My goodness! if we need to do them again its going to cost us big! He may have to travel to cameroon! Well, we have being praying all along so.....if they reschedule him...there is something good about it. Even though we wont understand it at the time.

Well, he never found it. His voice was so panicked when I spoke with him but I was able to convince him it would be ok....I told him everything u guys told me plus our lawyer said it would be no problem if we make sure to take the copies of the old one and police report and his new one. He did say the police charged him so much money to file the report. He says it wasnt kosher ;) but he had no choice. Thanks for all the advice.

Gosh, Good Luck Girl! Sounds like you're doing the right thing. I have threatened Bassi because he loses things a lot. And I don't want to have to redo paperwork at the last minute. I hope he really guards his birth certificate and passport and police report and everything really. He doesn't really need most of that paperwork to live his life in Accra, so it's hard for him to treat it with the care we treat papers with here.
