I've just about had it with this Embassy... is it run by the Russian Mafia?! I have called the State Dept., I know that Moscow has our papers, I know they set a date for the interview... I need to reschedule this interview date because there is a child involved and Monday is not possible. I have written emails and called this stupid outsourced visa number four freaking times and get told every time "We don't see the case, call tomorrow". Why do I need to call a Russian company about my application with the AMERICAN Embassy? Why is the Moscow Embassy the only one doing this? I've done this process before, I've dealt with REAL embassies and had no problem to call the Frankfurt Embassy and talk to an American and get my questions answered efficiently and correctly for free.

There has to be a way to circumvent this Russian company that obviously can't do anything but take your credit card and charge you $12 to tell you they don't know $hit!

Sorry, but at this point I've lost all patience with the stupidity of this process.

I have emailed the Embassy about four or five different times and within about 3 business days they have always responded. I also had to reschedule their interview and was successful. I emailed about a week prior to the interview. Know that when you reschedule the interview they will merely place you into the next available spot, just as if you were being initially scheduled by them.

Their acknowledgement of the new interview date is your receipt, along with the initial invitation letter, that you have a new date (I emailed verifying that.). They have not changed the online schedule (still shows the first date).

Again, have you ever received any email from them at all? If not, then maybe your spam filter is bouncing them.

When was your first email sent? Was it more than three business days ago?

Also know that they take both Russian and American holidays off (nice job).

I sent all emails to this address: consulMo@state.gov
Their reply email came from this address: Moscow Consular2 (don't have last part)

Yes, because she doesn't live in Moscow you know? Its a 5 hour trip by plane, which means she has to then travel there with her son on a Thursday, take the medical on Friday, stay all weekend... go to the embassy on Monday and fly back on Tuesday. Thats quite a number of days for them to be in Moscow, her son missing school and also not very cheap. Is it such a big deal to move the appointment to Tuesday or something? What are we talking about here?! They talk to you for 5 minutes and I think everyone has gone through enough proving after a 6 month process anyway.
I know, I am asking too much... god forbid they should have to think of someone's life in all this process.

But thanks for being an a$$ neonred.

Love waits, I think the best suggestion is to write the email with all your details, case number, appointment date, etc...

Tell them you want to be rescheduled for a Tuesday or Wednesday, they will almost certainly accommodate you. You are paying for the interview. The embassies are reasonable.

Well, I would definitely agree about calling the embassy. It's worthless. As far as I can tell, the people that you call have no access beyond what anybody could get on the internet. You're paying 12 dollars to talk to someone because they have access to the internet.

Email seems like the way to go.

By all means, email the embassy. Be sure to include the case number and explain your circumstances. Forget calling, it's just not worth the cost or effort. Also, remember that your interview is not the only one they receive but K-1 interviews are the most successful. So, relax and get the change done if you feel it is really necessary. For most people, the soonest date they can get is the best anyway. After all, isn't your fiancee and her child going to come to America anyway. So what difference will a few missed days of school hurt. good.gif

Welcome to Russia!

It's all a big game and you just have to play along the best you can. In six months, none of that garbage will matter anymore. As others have said, E-mail is the best way to do this, so give that a shot.

Also, when the embassy says "call back tomorrow" what they really mean is "call back in three weeks."

First, there is NO Russian Mafia..haha Second, email the Embassy, then email the Embassy, then Email the Embassy, and finally email the Embassy 2 or three times a day they will answer one email. Include all the information plus the MOS number your name, her name, and birth dates, also mention that you are the Petitioner. I have only had one problem where it took them two weeks to answer me, however once I started emailing 3 times a day I think they got tired of me and decided to answer. I even half jokingly have told my Natasha when you show up for the interview they will say "Oh you are THAT guys fiancee"!

You are in for a pretty rough "visa journey" if you have already lost patience before even getting the visa. Eventual citizenship many forms, much money and a long time away.

They talk to hundreds of people each week. They do not have the time or patience to reschedule people for the sake of personal convenience. Show up at the appointed time (that you have waited many months for), or not. If I were you, I would just keep the Monday appointment and suck up the costs.
