It would be interesting to see, through pictures, how life turned out for those of us who have moved here in the US. Please post bits and pieces of your slice of the American pie. I'll start.

my sweet parents-in-law, couldn't ask for better in-laws.

our beloved white shepherd, Spirit, went to dog heaven on March 3, 2009. he was supposed to turn 14 yrs. old tomorrow, April 13. Spirit is sorely missed.

my son is attending Washington State University and is moving out of the house in the fall. not sure if I should be happy or sad unsure.gif

my workplace, the kitchen. please ignore the dirty dishes blush.gif

Life in the US has been good so far.

I think you are enjoying the good life there in The Evergreen State. And you look too young to be having a son who is already in college. By the way, what is he studying in Pullman? good.gif

Hi shang. Payong kapatid, I suggest that while waiting for your visa, take advantage of the time that you still have in the Philippines. Spend quality time with your family, especially your parents, because once you get here, sila naman ang mami-miss mo ~ hindi na ang fiance mo, baligtad naman. My one regret is not seeing my nephews and nieces grow and missing all the family happenings like graduations, birthdays, christmases, new years, binyagan, kasalan, swimming parties, etc.

Thank you for your condolences. Below is the memorial we made for Spirit dito sa kitchen namin.

I took an impression of Spirit's paw print before he was put to "sleep". His ashes is in the wooden box. We cried for weeks when he died. Para rin kaming namatayan ng anak.

It's nice to know that you like my kitchen, Mariel. Magaganda lahat ng nakikita kong kitchen dito. Wala pa akong nakitang pangit atsaka wala silang ipis dito, nakaka-miss din ang ipis, wala akong mahampas ng tsinelas laughing.gif

Thank you, Tito AJ. I gave birth to my son when I was 9 years old hahahaha... joke! My son plans to take up Electrical Engineering and might move on to Renewable Energy Engineering later.

We really enjoy the mild winter and mild summer here in WA state. The beaches, the mountains, the snow, are all an hour and a half drive away only.

Salamat pero magagalit na naman ang anak ko nyan pag sinabi ko sa kanya ang sinabi mo na mukha lang kaming magkapatid. Violent reaction kaagad yan hahaha.

Time for me to say good night. Gigising pa ng maaga bukas para ipaghanda ng baon at almusal si Mister. Nighty-nite!

Funny, we white people are often accused of clinging to white people (we are the evil racist so they say)..... seems brown people also cling to each other too. NC isn't so brown, but looks like you found them. LOL!

I like the pic of catching snow with the tongue. When Meryll arrived last year it snowed in April. I was teaching her to catch snowflakes with her tongue. Suddenly she asked, "Is it safe?" I replied, "Yes, as long as the snow is not yellow."

It took her awhile to find out what yellow snow was!! whistling.gif

Thanks for posting your pics guys and gals. Keep it coming...

I'd like to show what I've been keeping myself busy with. Towards the end of March, hubby left for a business trip (was gone for a week) and I took that opportunity to do a make-over of his study. He was pleasantly surprised, of course (OR ELSE!!! hehe). There are still lots of things to do for the room like buy a sofa, coffee table, frames etc. and I'm getting there... slowly but surely. Here are the before and after shots: (hope you like it)

- his desk "before" - his desk "after"

- the closet "before" - the closet "after"

New Year's celebration with David's kids and grandkids (we look drunk but we're not... we're sleepy - LOL!)

Few days before our trip to the Philippines, our dear friends came down to see us over the weekend.

So there you have it... some of the highlights... More to come!

Woman of leisure ako ngayon, working as "maid" of honor dito sa bahay. Like in Oak Harbor, there are few opportunities here, except for nursing and caregiving jobs ~ super daming naka-advertise, but I don't have the training for that. Unemployment is at a high of 15% in our county.

I saw nga lots of job openings in Seattle but Doug does not want me to apply there because it would mean that I would relocate then go home during the weekend and he does not like the idea. Pareho pala tayo ng situation. The advice that I received is to look for volunteer work to establish a network system and for reference. Sometimes a volunteer work can lead to a paid job.

Hi fish, good hear from you.

I gained 5 pounds since I arrived two years ago huhuhu. Hala, you better go to the gym to get those extra pounds off. Doug enrolled me at the YMCA but I only went a few months then I stopped going. Kakatamad. I prefer ballroom dancing as my exercise but Doug prefers the gym which I find boring hehehe.

Glad to know that you are happy. Post pictures ng iyong labada-dami and pagluluto.
