Should I Attend the Interview?

A question for all that have already been through the interview process. What are your feelings as to whether it is beneficial or possibly not to attend your fiancee's visa interview? The reason I ask is, we hired an attorney to take care of the paperwork and now that our package has been approved and sent to Manila, his office is suggesting that I attend the interview because of our difference in ages. I had not planned on attending the interview (tough getting away from work), however I will do whatever it takes to make sure my Mahal Ko's visa is approved.

It's not a requirment. Lots of people have gone to the interview alone. My wife has no PTO from work and I will be attending the interview alone

I will be attending my wife's interview next week. I'm not worried about our age difference (14 years and I don't believe it is an issue), but there are other issues that I can help out with. If I were not there with her, I could not live with myself if she received a denial.

I think the amount of age difference is not as important as how young your wife is--under 25? I would definitely recommend your attending.

It's a ####### shoot one way or the other!

Age difference does matter. If you are an old toothless fart with your hair [if any] combed over your kalbo head petitioning a killer young chick what would you as CO think when he saw you together.

To me it's better to submit photos which show you as young looking as possible and shin on the interview.

On the other hand if you look fairly young it's a different story as your presence will assist your lady with confidence a lot your being there.

Plus it does help a lot showing your concern by making another trip especially if you haven't made multiple trips prior.

As one poster said you will be kicking yourself in the puwit if she is denied and you aren't there.

Up to you. Sometimes lawyers are looking from the outside at the overall situation and know what they are talking about! They've been there! Done that also! Hopefully!!

It's really all up to you and your fiancee. When I had my interview, there were two applicants who were placed under AR despite the presence of the petitioner. The approval of the visa depends on how good you'll be able to prove that the relationship is bona fide, with each and every document to support it. My fiance and I have huge age gap but I didn't think it would be a problem. I would have loved to have him with me during that day but first, it's not economically-wise and second, it's hard for him to get away. We're both confident that I can make it through being armed with all the necessary paperwork. And true enough, I did well and got the visa quickly. If you think your fiacee will need your support, then be there... Like I said, every case is different from one to another.

it seams there is alot with age gaps from the philipeans so i wouldnt worry too much about it cuz it seams like the norm there.

age gap in phil is somehow pretty common. the CO wouldnt flinch about it anymore (although some would)...

i went alone in my ingterview even if my then fiance now husband wanted to go. we thought our interview would fall around Feb but we got a 3 week notice that our interview would be on dec 27 (good thing i check the website everyday). he just visited me around Nov and it would be hard for him to be back again on Dec, coz of his business and financially wise too. so i went alone and just saw one american who accompany his fiance. they got approved, i got approved too lol... so it would probably ease the tension of your fiancee if you're there. but as long as your docs are complete and accurate and you have a genuine/bonifide relationship, whether you're there or not, it wouldnt make a "big" difference. my opinion... good luck!!!

I don't think age gap will matter that much. As long as you have to make sure you have all the necessary documents for the interview, that you can prove relationship is bonafide. Although it is not an assurance that being there for her interview will approve your case (as some were still denied), but being there is the "best proof" of how bonafide your relationship is... because you took time to be with her and support her physically for her interview.
