favorite things you'll miss from canada

hi! just thought i'd start a list of favorite items not available in the u.s. .Maybe someones done this one before?. I will miss huge jars of cheese whiz and ketchup chips. I am bringing a few cases of each.Good thing i booked a 17ft uhaul.

As a USC with my husband in Canada - these are my favorites he's always enjoying that I can't have! (but LOVE) Canadian-Chineese Food, Fries & Gravy, Tim's Honey Crulers, Stronger beer, Pizza Delight, Irving Food, Moose, oh my list could go on and on!

Here's a "custom" that I would like Americans to adopt - removing your shoes when you enter a house. I found it strange at first, but now I wish everyone removed their shoes when they come to mine!

I so agree with you on the custom of removing shoes. My husband comes in and takes his shoes off at the couch where I can trip over those Size 12's all the time. The Europeans do this too.

I miss being able to buy good over-the-counter drugs such as 222's, Robaxet, Allegra and a few others. Prescription drugs are big business in the States and you have to pay for everything, so bring your favourites.

While you're stocking up on Chez Whiz, think about this: the aisles of the supermarkets in the States are filled with junk food. But not to worry, because in the last aisle, there's a pharmacy. That's where your high health insurance premiums will help you pay hundreds a month for pills to keep your cholesterol in check (from eating all that Chez Whiz). You'll get to live another 20 years on expensive meds!

Later, if you're lucky, you'll be in a nursing home so they can keep you alive another few years at $8,000 a month. It's all big business. So have another cheeseburrger and keep the economy healthy.

My favourite things that I miss about Canada (other than my family....don't get me started on that )............I dearly miss sweet mustard pickles (haven't seen not one jar anywhere) my husband loves them and we brought some back with us but not enough, we don't even have any left for Thanksgiving this weekend........Sour Creme and Bacon Chips..........Pineapple Pop................YES...........CHEESE WHIZ (I can't believe they don't have the big bottles and yes they're like the nacho stuff.....tsk tsk!!.......... Fries with dressing and gravy ..............I could go on and go but I should leave some for you fine folks to list..

And yes, what is it with Americans not taking their shoes off when they enter peoples homes......it's the same where my sister lives in California!! My hubby takes his off now but it's so weird when I go to someone's home and they say 'Oh don't bother taking off your shoes!!" But I take them off cause I don't want to mess their floors up....Go Figure.............................{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

Some things I took a strong liking to in Canada and now miss in the states. Pilsners, Coffee Crips (it makes a nice light snack), all the Cadbury chocolates.

BTW, I've had pineapple pop in the states. I think it was Safeway brand.
