hello everyone,

i was (mis?)informed that i am the only one who is allowed to sponsor my fiance's K-1 visa. according to all the info on this website, that's untrue. i'm an unemployed student--staying with my fiance in canada, so i don't exactly meet the requirements for an I-134. how much do her assets count at the interview?

Hi. I was also a student when we were going through this so my income was pretty much negative. Anyways you can have a co sponsor. My brother was kind enough to help out. You will need to fill out the I-134 and have it notarized and get all supporting documentation listed on the form, and your co sponsor will do the exact same thing so you will have 2 I-134's. I've yet to hear of a consulate that doesn't accept co-sponsors for the affidavit of support.

From reading the various threads, Manila seems to be one causing a kaffuffle when it comes to accepting joint sponsors for K-1, but there has been exceptions if the joint-sponsor is a close family member.

Good question. The visa would be the least of their problems - someone has to pay the bills. Whoever that person is, there's a good candidate to be the visa sponsor.
