AOS-Filing (or Compiling) in October 2008

I decided to start a migration over to AOS and hope we can keep in touch as we leave the visa process and marry and file for AOS. Welcome K1s and K3s and anybody else who wants to join in. I'm Nich the USC in Texas and plan to marry October 5 and file asap afterwards. I have the forms filled out except for a few details to be determined.

I am sooooo excited to be here. Although we are missing a wedding ceremony and some paperwork in the mail to be official October AOS filers it is really great to know that we are this far in the process!

I hope BEX is holding her horses and doesn't file until October so we can regroup! You hear me girl???? No docs in the mail until October 1st!

And i hope ANA is getting married next month too .... although she needs some time to teach JEFF their forro first dance

Can't wait to meet new cool people and this place is going to be so much joyous now that we actually live under the same roof with the person we so much missed

I just got off of the phone with Luis and he's like freaking out about the interview and plus I get there on the 1st and we don't even have a hotel set up yet, he's worried we won't get a good one cheap enough in time and he doesn't want to have to stay with his mom and dad, LOLOL

Its awesome you get to go to the interview with him Suzy!, maybe you will be able to get a deal booking later than most people would? I'm annoying when it comes to things like that, I would book the hotel weeks and weeks in advance

Maybe I should start the thread with a question hehe. On the I-485, if I want to be known by my married name in the USA is it alright to put it there? I heard people say that because I'm not the USC and I am a chick that I will have to change the name on my passport first, surely thats not true?.

That's one question I haven't worried about since I'm the USC chick, so not my form to fill out. (Well, I filled it out but it's for Nick.) I just looked at it and I don't know why you couldn't put your married name. That is your name at the time of filing. And in Part 3 it says: Give your name exactly as it appears on your Arrival/Departure Record (Form I-94) Seems like that's where you could list your maiden name. Or in that first box I might would put JONES (maiden name SMITH) or JONES (formerly SMITH) if you have short names or JONES (nee Smith) because nee means your maiden name. That's only my logic with absolutely no experience in the matter. It just seems like the AOS is a new process and you start it with a new name.

Nico, I guess you and Alina will have to become the experts on foreign chicks with name changes and report back to us. You are duly appointed.

Well he hasn't seen you in 7 months, is it?? Hmmmm....Madre y padre??? (or is that Mamacita and Pappasito) Yeah right, it would be great fun at their house in separate quarters. You'll have to sneak around in the dark and bump into things, but can't scream out loud when you stump your toe. Or scream period.

Hello everybody! Still no interview date for me, but I'll certainly file for AOS as soon as I can once I'm married to my love.... I don't want to wait, and I want to get all the paperwork out of the way ASAP. Perhaps Suzy and I will be filing together?

Hi Everyone

Well I am leaving Vermont for England on tuesday, medical on wednesday then off to Bordeaux for the weekend and back for my embassy interview on !st Oct. Hopefully back to the US on the 8th and married at the weekend. Getting the licence tomorrow.

And then AOS.. here we go again!
