A friend ask me if she moves with her new husband to the USA to live will she continute to recived her CSST workers comp payments?

Didn't you JUST as this question in another thread but said YOU were the one that was moving to the US not your "friend". Man funny stuff is going on around here.

I know nothing about how workers comp works, but I would assume that you can't receive workers comp from one country while living in another. Maybe I am wrong though. I'm not sure if any one will know this question here.

You're best to have your friend call who ever is administering their benefits to let them know that they are leaving the province.

I can only tell you how that works in Alberta, and I am not sure that Quebec operates the same way.

In Alberta you can receive wage replacement benefits if you leave the province or move to another country. However typically, the person administering the claim will ask that just before the person moves they attend a medical exam to see what level they are functioning at. If they are still totally disabled, they will then receive their 100% of wage replacement benefits.

If a person is capable of working at a modified level, and they are still with their employer who has modified work available, then they would not be entitled to wage replacement benefits as they have removed themself from the ability to do modified work.

If a person is capable of working at a modified level and no longer job attached, then other options would be examined to determine whether their benefits would be adjusted (usually downwards).

In Alberta, the Board can demand someone attend a medical appointment in that province, and failure to attend can result in suspension of these benefits. The Board typically will pay the airfare or bus fare to attend these appointments.

I guess, at least in Alberta whether benefits are still paid generally depends upon the level of disability and whether the person is actually leaving their employment to move to the United States.

My suggestion would be for your friend to call and ask how their WCB handles claims where the person is leaving the province.
