I found this today on wikipedia:"For example, a K1 visa may not be issued to a recent student visitor (to discourage foreigners being students merely for the purpose of meeting US spouses). "

So i was on a j1 there. So i fell inlove. Now what? That has to put me in a bad light all the sudden?

I meen, is it my fault i met somebody who happened to be an american citizen, and we just can't and don't desire to live without eachother anymore?

Is it true, though? They make such a big deal of the fact one is a recent j1?

Did anybody expirience a problem for this reason?

I'm not sure I would take wikipedia's word as gospel

There are many here who have been students here who have been approved a K1 with no problems.

J-1 may be subject to a 2 year home residency requirement. If you are subject to it, you would need to return home to your country for two years before immigrating to the US.

wikipedia is a user contributed site, so can and does have many errors.

That is flat out wrong for K-1. Many can and do use time in the USA on a J-Visa as evidence of meeting within past 2 years for the I-129F used for the K-1.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Wow, that is stupid... Nope, I met my husband when he was here on a J-1 (no 2 yr. residency requirement though), he went home, we dated some more, got engaged and succesfully filed for K1. There are those one here who did have the 2 year residency requirement and had to wait, but there are certainly LOTS of J-1 ppl who file K-1's.

So that's just the kind of information that would drive you crazy when you're not confident enough that things are going to go well.

I just wanted too see how stupid you think it is.
