Going to her interview

Hi all,

This is my first post. I'm USA 43 yrs. old. She's 23 Philippines. I have been advised to go to the interview with her. We just got our notice from NVC that everything is headed to Manila now. I estimate her interview to be in July sometime.

Prior to getting advice to go with her to the interview, I thought she would go alone, get her visa in about a week and I would fly there. Then we were going to have a party with her family and return together to the USA.

This new revelation that I will be with her at the interview has me really concerned. I've been told it could take up to 2 weeks for her to receive the visa after her interview. I realize its usually faster than that but I need to buy a round trip ticket and I need to figure out my return date.

One more problem that we have is that the address she gave on the I-129 form is in Mindanao. I was told its too late to have the visa sent to a different address (in manila) and that she can't pick it up in person either. To top it all off, her parents live in Samar and we are requested to have a party there with them before we leave for the USA.

If we can't change the address where the visa is sent, or pick it up in person, I guess my only choice it the following.

Buy a round trip ticket with a return date of about 16 days. Arrive in Manila the day before the interview. If she is approved, we would then fly to Samar for a party with her parents for one or two days. Then we would fly to Mindanao via Manila (no direct flights from catarman to cagayan de oro I think) and wait for the visa to arrive. After the visa arrives we would return to Manila, buy a ticket for her to the USA on the same flight as my return ticket. If we got all that done many days before my return flight we would try to get on a flight stand by I guess.

IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY? Gosh I wish we didn't have to go back to Mindanao to wait for the Visa. I was really hoping to have some vacation time left to spend with her when we got back to the USA before I had to return to work.

Thanks for any replies,

Kevin

Try to request for visa pick-up. You will have it 2-3 days depending on the consul's decision and of course your reason as to why you request for it. It would also depend if she meet the requirements and the flow of the interview. In some cases, AR does happens.

I live in Mindanao but got my VISA in a week.

Request a visa pick-up. I did. I got my visa after a day of wait. It is a risk though, discern first if your consular officer would allow it, depends on the "conversation" - interview flow. Good luck!
