Sorry to change subject suddenly, but I've seen so many people add a "touched" step in their timelines. What does that mean?

You can see the last updated date in the USCIS online tool for your application: so some people check it very frequently and record every time someone did something on their application.

I see, thanks.... So the online tool at the USCIS website actually works....

Well, most of the time you only see a touch when you get a decision made. So in my opinion it is kinda pointless to track touches. Some people even get approvals in mail and online tool status doesn't change at all or changes after you get the mail.

One thing my lawyer told me when I did my AOS was the FBI background check takes different periods for different people. I don't know if this is the case for you (as well as others) whom appear to still be waiting for approval while other filers that sent their applications after them already got approved. I don't mean to scare you, by the way. I am starting the develop this feeling that there is a great deal of randomness happening at USCIS.

It is true background checks take different amounts of time for different people, however my wife's background checks at the time of K-1 visa and AOS were routine and didn't take a long time. This is what's annoying me as all previous applications/petitions have been approval within the average time of fellow applicants/petitioners, but this time we're way on the other side of the bell curve. It seems to me we're more than 2 standard deviations beyond the statistical average. :angry:

Anyone else apply in AUG to CSC and who still in DEC has not received approval yet? Anyone? :wacko:

Some people get background check done in a year for AOS and then 751 is lightning fast and for some it is other way around I guess... doesn't seem like there is correlation really..
