Thanks for the queries :) Just one more thing, I am due to send off packet 3 tomorrow, on the IV-15 checklist (2nd page) you have to write dates for three events. Is it OK if I put "ASAP" for Date of travel and Wedding, since we don't know those dates yet? (Naturally it depends on how fast they process our paperwork etc!)

For Date of Medical, I don't want to book this until I receive an Interview date because I'm thinking of doing the medical on the same day as the interview just saves me doing one round trip to London via train. What should I put? "Pending until Interview date received"?

It's OK to put ASAP but it seems you'd be better off if you actually give them a date as they seem to allocate your interview date according to the date you've put down on the IV-15. So if you want it ASAP maybe you could put a date of middle of May and see how it goes. They may give you a date before then but if not, it's likely that they'll at least try to accommodate you for an interview that month. Since I know exactly when I want to leave, I wrote that date (10 May), so I'll have to wait and see whether they'll be able to slot me for an interview that soon (only two weeks to go  ). It seems unlikely since the Embassy has not put the Packet 3 into their system yet.

As for medical, it's fine to state - pending interview date.

Good luck.

Hi Jim,

I'm pretty sure if you do your medical on the same day as the visa they wont be able to give you an approval on the day. You will have to wait to recieve your approval until they have seen your medical results, and generally speaking these take a couple of days to be recieved by the embassy.

I'm so happy that I'm posting this info everywhere :). Just phoned that expensive Embassy line and they told me not only my case is registered but they've sent me my appointment letter as well.

The interview is scheduled for 12 May @ 8:00.

Since we want to enter the US on the 10th and get married on the 12th, the date is not ideal so i'll see if I could move it forward. Do I sound really ungrarteful? But still, I'm happy to get a date even that close.

It is very easy to ask for a change of interview date with London. All you have to do is call the embassy (1.2 GBP/min but it only takes a minute). Inform them that you want to change your interview date, the operator will give you the email code of the week (ask for it if he/she does not). Then email the embassy with the email code in the subject line as well as in the body and also include your case #. Then explain in the body of the email how you want your interview date changed. You will get an automatic acknowledgment email from the embassy within 15 minutes to a few hours stating that they have "received your email, we are averaging 3-4 days to respond, please do not email again". And the embassy usually is very quick with a turnaround response (within 2 days in our case) and they will usually accommodate your request. Congrats on getting this far and hope you get a sooner date!

Thanks MARM. Stinky Monkey suggested the same so I've called the 09042 line, got the code, sent the email and got the automated response back. Now all is left to do is to sit tight and wait. But thanks for the info. I'm sure it will useful to number of other people as well.

Good luck tomorrow on the medical.

get the e-mail code from the expensive embassy line and send an e-mail asking for a cancellation. I did this for the same reasons and got an e-mail back next day with an appointment for the next week. Be prepared to go at short notice though, someone else who did the same thing got an e-mail with an appointment for the next day.

Glad to hear that! My fiance finished his about an hour ago. The first thing he said was that it was horrible. But, the more I asked, I think everything was fine in the end, but just not a pleasant experience. He had the Indian woman doctor, and it sounds like she was every bit as mean to him as other people have said. Am waiting for him to get back home so I can call and find out the rest, then I will write a review.

I'm thinking they are unlikely to send it on Saturday, right? Since they haven't emailed back, I assume it will be either Monday or Tuesday. And since I live in London, short notice will be OK. I wonder if I should carry my folder with me to work, just in case? ;)

Before my fiance went off to his medical I was trying to guess which Dr. he would get by reading the past reviews of this year and looking at the dates and times...I was guessing he was going to get the Irish male Dr. but he got the nice blonde Dr. I was hoping he was not going to get the Indian doctor! So sorry that she was mean to your fiance... :( but at least it is over and done with!

KAT&Allie, we also sent an email to the embassy, but to postpone the interview, as the passport only has two days to show up (today and Monday). We also got the acknowledgment response, but I don't think they will respond on Saturday, HOWEVER, I found this on the Embassy's website:

Service available Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.

Now I don't know if this is just for the operator assisted visa information or also for the IOs within the embassy who are the ones that will reply to the emails for interview date changes.

Keep us updated when you hear something back, I will also :)

OK, now that I have talked to my fiance properly, turns out, the Indian doctor "wasn't that bad". I have NO idea why he told me it was horrible! I think the "horrible" part was just that it was in London, and it was a doctor. I couldn't believe he said the Indian lady wasn't that bad. And from what he told me, she WAS pretty mean in a few ways. I don't know.

He wasn't supposed to get to Xray back right? When does he get that?
