I am filling out the I-824 to get a copy of the NOA2 that I lost because the i-485 needs it.

Then I read on the I-824 I need to send $340? $340 to get a duplicate????

Is there any other way ?

I'm afraid not. :(

If you made a copy - then you can use the copy. I scan the docs I send or get from USCIS, so in case I lose the original at least I still have a copy. Comes in handy sometimes. Also, not sure if you absolutely must send the NOA2 - the guide doesn't list it - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos.

So perhaps you could save the $340. Let us know if you do not send it - so others can use this info. Good Luck

The VJ guide might not list it but it's definitely need for AOS.

I got this from the I-485 instructions;

B. Based on admission as the K-1 fiancé(e) of a U. S.citizen and subsequent marriage to that citizen.

15. Evidence of eligibility.

Attach a copy of the approval notice for an immigrantpetition that makes a visa number immediately available to you, or submit a complete relative, special immigrant juvenile, or special immigrant military petition which, if approved, will make a visa number immediately available to you.

:(((((((( I thrw it away i tihnk tihnking.. wont need this anymore. i have a bad habit or throwing things away

im wondering if I should TRY to do it with the NOA2. and maybe save $340 ?

Worse that can happen is they just say.. hey.. this one paper is missing .. right?

That and notify you they won't proceed without it. At which time you will still pay the fee and wait even longer to complete the adjustment of status.

Rough but true. If you get an RFE for it, it'll just prolong everything.

It might be better to just bite the bullet and shell out the $340 than to extend this whole process.

Can you still log in to the USCIS web site with your USCIS number and print out their approval notice? If you can, you can then print it and send it with your I-485 packet. It might be worth a shot.
